TEN
THOUSAND TOWERS

It’s a new
public art form, a social art form, an active art form, a Participatory artform. It’s art about you. This is a very simple concept. When I make a tower it is a single action, a work of art. When I teach 10,000 people how to make towers it is an art revolution. It is a revolution 10,000 times more powerful than any single work of art. It is no longer my art. It becomes our art. It is an art of the people and in that I mean all people. We become the definition of community. We become larger than ourselves as our towers represent each individual forming a far more important entity than any of us could ever hopeto be. This is the essence of Ten Thousand Towers. I will teach 100 artists the methodology of my technique and they in turn will share the methodology with
100 people. They will teach them how to make ceramic garden towers . The outcome of 100 multiplied by 100 is Ten Thousand Towers. You can be a part of this new art form. You can make a tower in our community art project. You will own your tower but first it will be shown along with all of the other 10,000 artists and when we are seen together we will be seen as a community of makers.
This isn’t about art you buy its art you
make. This summer I am running tests of this radical new
art practice. They will be conducted at
my studio here in the California building.
You will produce a successful outcome within the 3 hour session. I will fire your piece and we will present our sculpture on August 6 and 7 in a Grand Celebration. This will be the prototype and test of 10,000 Towers. You will be able to take your tower home in
September. My goal is to enlist 200 participants in this first test round. SIGN UP NOW classes will be
assigned on first come basis we will contact you with your date and time confirmation

This commission is fast becoming one of my all time favorite projects. The family are located here in Florida. I m in a bit of a miniature art town all on its own. It boasts a cute small museum with a collection of western and eastern arts from all eras. It is also home to the Morean Arts Center the Chihuli Collection and the dali Museum. My clients are major benefactors of the Dali.

They found me on line through the Babylon Project. they are Chaldeans, Iraqi Christaians who had followed the project over its life span. they contacted me and asked the price of Babylon. I told him A Quarter of a Million he didnt flinch but asked if I was intersted in creating the gates of Ishtar? Indeed I was and I still am. He flew me down here put me in the Vinoy a 4 star and I have had a solid patron ever since. I am here now creating phase 1 of a long term commission that includes gates, pools, fountains, and a dozen other opportunities we expect to be working on the commission for the next 3 years. It’s all real and all top shelf. I love love love my Medici’s we are making a masterpiece that will become their home. Its actually a compound including two 5000 sq ft homes and gardens situated in the 3 1 piece of real estate in floridas Sun coast. Nice work if you can get it!

Its a sleepy little Florida town. However it has some very unique attributes. Its an artists town. with a total poulation of 7500 it has an art population of 350. So if Nyc has a poulation of 4 million it would have 200,000 artists! Imagine that? the town has a little artwalk that draws about 50 artists from an area of 50 miles and is attended by at least 1000 people. Now thats a cool thing too. sales are dismal but thats true anywhere these days. I am here working on the Majeed Commission but I am also here creating another location for the 10,000 towers project. Its all working.

Upon his return to Minnesota from a month long residency at The Labyrinth in Gulf Port, Florida, he completed a residency at Saint Paul Academy. His students there were busy creating a huge medieval city including 200 2-foot tall towers. Now he is in residence at The Landmark Arts Center way up north near Canada in Henning Minnesota.

From there he will conduct three weeks of residencies in New York Mills Minnesota, Henning Minnesota, Underwood Minnesota, and Battle Lake Minnesota. In these residencies Aldo’s students will create 950 2-foot tall ceramic skyscrapers! 6000 pounds of clay will be used. Each one is unique each one representing an individual person from the Lake country of Minnesota.

Then on May 14 they will all come together and create a gigantic city of the people! A community of art! After that he is off to North Dakota to do it again.

The North Dakota event is at the state college in Devils Lake, ND. Then he will begin phase 1 of The Majeed Commission in Saint Petersburg Florida, a 3 year long commission of Aldo’s work based on his Babylon Project. They will create a 5 million dollar estate on the Gulf coast – the rebirth of Babylon!

Then it’s back home to Minneapolis where he will begin the prototype piece of his Ten Thousand Towers Project which recently won funding from The Minnesota State Arts Board Artists Initiative Grant. That’s another doozie of a project. He will kick that one off at The Art-a-WHIRL at The California Building in Beautiful Nordeast Minneapolis.

If you want to make skyscrapers with Aldo now is the time just get in touch via his spanking new web site created by The Sinard Group, a web developer focusing on the needs of artists, writers, musicians and creatives. It launches Today! So Get on Board/ Feel my disease!

Peace Aldo Artist instigator
